Pulse pouring

Also known as pulse pour · pulsos de vertido · pour en pulses · intermittent pouring

Pulse pouring: vertidos intermitentes en dripper

What it is and what sets it apart: A pour-profile strategy, not a separate brew method. Distinct from pure immersion and continuous pouring. Common on V60/Kalita.

How it’s used or measured: After bloom: pulses of X g with short pauses to total water. Time and weigh each pulse. Log “3 pulses” in Brew Lab.

Flavours and cup impact: Good pulses: more time control and sweetness; chaotic pulsing: muddiness/bitterness.

Technical notes: Not bypass—water still goes through coffee.

Common mistakes: Pulsing without weights. Confusing with immersion. Fifteen chaotic micro-pulses.
