TDS

Also known as total dissolved solids · sólidos disueltos · concentración TDS · ppm

Diagrama TDS (fuerza) en elaboración

What it is and what sets it apart: Cup TDS (%, ppm) says how concentrated the drink is. With yield and dose you get EY%. Distinct from water conductivity.

How it’s used or measured: Measure with a coffee refractometer. Place on the brew chart with EY%. Log % TDS in Brew Lab.

Flavours and cup impact: High TDS: intense; low: weak/watery. Benefit: separate weak from under-extracted with EY%.

Technical notes: Espresso ~8–12% order; filter ~1.2–1.5%. EC conversion ≠ beverage TDS.

Common mistakes: Using water TDS as coffee TDS. Chasing a % without tasting. Confusing TDS with extraction.
