Sensory and cupping

Sensory intensity

Also known as sensory intensity · intensidad · strength of notes

What it is and what sets it apart: Intensity is perceived volume. A soft cup can be excellent; an intense cup can be unbalanced or defective.

How it’s perceived or evaluated: Use a 1–5 mental scale in calibration. Separate intensity from liking. Do not confuse with high dose.

Flavours, benefits or impact: Useful to compare lots and design blends. Too much intensity without sweetness fatigues.

Technical notes: Naturals, roast and extraction raise intensity. SCA discusses it inside attributes, not as one score.

Common mistakes: Do not buy only for “more intense”. Do not mix intensity with SCA score.
