Roast

One-way valve

Also known as one-way valve · válvula · degassing valve

What it is and what sets it apart: Differs from a fully sealed pack—fresh roast needs to vent. Not eternal anti-age magic.

How it is done: Roast → pack with valve → CO₂ pushes out → minimise open time → store well.

Flavours and cup benefits: Prevents ballooning and helps seals; relative freshness. Allows packing soon after roast.

Technical notes: Valve ≠ recent date or whole bean. Dirty/saturated valves lose function.

Common mistakes: Do not treat the valve as 6-month freshness. Do not puncture the bag “to breathe more”.
