Roast

Espresso roast

Also known as espresso roast · tueste espresso

What it is and what sets it apart: Need not be dark—specialty has light espressos. Differs from filter via development design and often more caramel or longer rest.

How it is done: Bar goal → enough development → machine QC → typically longer rest → dial-in.

Flavours and cup benefits: Chocolate, caramel, concentrated fruit, stable crema. Balanced shots and milk drinks.

Technical notes: Typical ratio ~1:2. Dense lights need fine grind care. Date + rest matter.

Common mistakes: Espresso ≠ always oily dark. Do not serve day-1. Do not skip dial-in on filter roasts.
