What it is and what sets it apart: Grinding multiplies exposed area—oxidation and volatile loss. Differs from whole bean mainly in aromatic shelf life.
How it is done: If buying ground: right size for method → seal well → use soon → don’t regrind.
Flavours and cup benefits: Handy for travel/office; limits dial-in at home. Only helpful if grind is recent and correct.
Technical notes: Pre-ground espresso ages especially poorly. Prefer roast date on the bag.
Common mistakes: Do not use one “universal” fine grind. Do not store ground for weeks open in the fridge.
